Definition and Scope
As a result of agreements, ratified in 1994 and 1995 regarding the Montreal Protocol, Turkey accepted 26.1M USD to use in line of the purposes of the protocol. TTGV was appointed for the coordination of the activities, concerning the use of the fund. Within this scope, the following activities were provided by TTGV:
- To reach the main users of ODSs and collecting information about the technology and ODS they use, besides the products and by-products they produce.
- To inform and train the SMEs on alternative technologies and available technical/financial assistances, targeting the elimination of ODSs from the production processes.
- To clarify and publicize the ODS removal/replacement opportunities through demonstration projects.
- To prepare ODS replacement projects and submit them to Multilateral Fund via World Bank.
- Management and monitoring of the approved projects.
Some Statistics About the Project
Up to now, TTGV transferred 25.5 M USD to 171 enterprises as part of 32 national projects. The supported projects lead to the complete removal of first priority ODS consumption in Turkey, except the compulsory areas.
