From May 2005 to April 2006, the Korea Development Institute ("KDI") of Republic of Korea and State Planning Organization ("SPO") of Republic of Turkey jointly implemented the Knowledge Sharing Program ("KSP") on the topic "A Way Forward for the Turkish Economy : Lessons from Korean Experiences."
Upon the successful completion of the program, the Turkish government officially requested a follow-up program on the topic "Models for National Technology and Innovation Capacity Development," which was written by the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey ("TTGV") and reviewed by the SPO.
Based on such a request, the Korean Ministry of Strategy and Finance ("MOSF"), the sponsoring organization for KSP, and KDI selected Turkey as its development partnership country for 2008-2009. As the first step of the KSP, KDI composed a group of four experts and carried out a Pilot Study and agreed upon research sub-topics with Turkish experts from TTGV, the counterpart organization for the program. In order to discuss and coordinate contents of research and consultation in progress, KDI invited Turkish experts to Korea to hold an Interim Reporting & Policy Practitioners' Workshop. As the last phase of the KSP, the experts from both countries met with senior policy officials and other related personnel in Turkey to disseminate the research findings and suggest policy alternatives.
